Characteristics
Investment funds are one of the most regulated investment products in Europe.
These are their most important characteristics:
- Funds are a special asset, which means that they are bankruptcy protected.
- Funds are managed for the investor by an investment company (which is in turn controlled/supported by a bank) in a trustee relationship.
- Funds offer a broader risk distribution than direct investments.
- Fund share prices (and thus their performance) are published daily.
- Funds are liquid: Purchases and sales can be executed at any time.
- Fund composition and returns are tested and published semi-annually by certified public accountants.
- Fund costs are transparent. They are published as the 'total expense ratio (TER).
- Funds can easily be compared to each other.
The transparency concerning risk and return allows XENIX to identify quality funds and build fund portfolios with stable risk-return profiles.
